Boldness needs a backstop. Centuries ago, a merchant who lost a ship lost everything. Then came a simple idea: share the risk. Suddenly, a shipwreck was a setback, not ruin. From transatlantic crossings to skyscrapers, insurance has always been an invisible engine behind progress.
Progress brought complexity. Risk was scattered across oceans and balance sheets. Today, a homeowners policy in Ohio might be backed by pension funds in Tokyo, bonds in Zurich, syndicates in London — none of whom know each other's names.
But complexity takes a toll. Risk should flow like water, but today it seeps through clogged pipes: PDFs, phone calls, faxes at every turn.
The system needs rearchitecting. We're building the primitives to get there, starting with accounting. The mission is to let risk flow freely from those who have it to those who can carry it.
We didn't start this to rebuild what already exists — the 12th AI sales coach, or the 17th coding assistant. When your customers have so many alternatives, they're fine without you. That apathy is contagious.
We wanted to build something genuinely new. We looked for an industry untouched by modern software and found it in insurance. We began as outsiders and had to earn our way in. It started to work: over half of the top 100 in the industry now depend on us, and we hit 8-figures in ARR with a single product.
